Our Team

Meet the folks who help make it all happen here at We Carry Kevan.

Board

Ryan Cochran

Board President

Ryan serves as the President of the Board of Directors. Kevan and Ryan became friends quickly through a few meetings at Fortezza Coffee, where they realized that their taste in literature and music was identical.

In addition to working with We Carry Kevan, Ryan has also worked on other boards in the areas of health care and community development.

Ryan has been the Lead Pastor at Broadway Christian Church in downtown Fort Wayne since 2013. Ryan and his wife Katie live in Fort Wayne with their 4 children.

Shannon Czimskey

Board Treasurer

The legendary friendship between Shannon and Connie started at UNC-Greensboro in the fall of 2001, when the two bonded over the drive to the InterVarsity Fall Beach Retreat. Shannon earned her Economics degree from UNCG, among many on (and off!) campus shenanigans with Connie, then she moved to Austin, TX. After working in retail banking for more years than she would have liked, her Great Adventure of a Life has led her to the role of Senior Accountant at a Venture Capital firm in Austin, TX.

Shannon's friendship with Connie brought her into the orbit of We Carry Kevan, where Shannon is thrilled to have a place to serve God and others with her banking and accounting skills!

Shannon lives in Austin, TX, and is proud to be a middle-aged suburban wife and mother to two boys. She loves to run lots of miles (preferably on trails at a slow, meandering pace), read, and yell at the refs at her beloved Texas Stars hockey games.

Christine Perry

Christine is the Executive Assistant at Hope Women's Centers, a pregnancy resource center located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In addition to this, she is a freelance writer and author.

Christine has worked in the nonprofit world for nearly 8 years in a number of different areas including donor development, social media management, and production assistance.

Christine has known Kevan her entire life. Their families have been life-long friends.

Luke Labas

Luke holds a Masters in Public Administration from Ball State University. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN, and has had cerebral palsy since birth. He currently lives and works in Indianapolis, IN, serving the city's residents as ADA Coordinator and Director of the City's Office of Disability Affairs. He has a passion for breaking down barriers for his peers with disabilities, both physical and self-imposed barriers. He has been actively involved in disability ministry, accessibility consulting, and peer support for over a decade.

Luke met Kevan a few years ago when he heard Kevan share his testimony during a Sunday service, and he was eager to join the team when given the opportunity.

Luke enjoys playing adaptive sports and has done so for the past 20 years, most of which have been spent playing power soccer all across the country.

Bill Hartrampf

Bill is responsible for Direct Sales at Deuter USA, the German backpack company that makes the backpack for We Carry Kevan. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Industrial Management. Bill has been with Deuter for over 25 years (Germany and US) and is an avid outdoor enthusiast.

Bill and his wife Marie have two children and live in Longmont, Colorado. He is honored to support the work and mission of We Carry Kevan.

Nickolas Harrison

Nick holds a bachelor's degree in Business from Indiana University. He is the Branch Manager and Sales and Marketing Director for Georges Pharmacy and Medical Equipment, a family-owned medical equipment supplier in Indiana. He has worked in the complex rehabilitation technologies field fitting custom wheelchairs and medical equipment for the past 15 years. Nick has worked with individuals suffering from various disabilities to help improve their quality of life, access, and mobility with custom designed equipment.

Nick met Kevan in 2017 at a Disability's Expo in Fort Wayne, Indiana. They became fast friends and Nick soon took over as Kevan's personal "wheelchair guy." Nick met Kevan during the design phase of the backpack and was immediately intrigued with the possibilities it would provide to the disabled community.

Nick lives in Columbia City, Indiana, with his wife of 15 years and 3 children. With Nick's love of outdoors and experience working with the disabled community, he sees the limitless opportunities the WCK backpack provides to families around the world.

Phil Shay

Phil met Kevan somewhat serendipitously at a coffee shop in Franklin, TN after seeing an Instagram photo of Kevan being carried on the back of a mutual friend earlier that same morning. Through that initial connection, they've journeyed as friends over the years and even crossed paths on the We Carry Kevan trip to China in 2018, where Kevan met his future wife who was also a co-worker of Phil's at the time. Insert mind-blown emoji.

Phil has history and experience working in the music industry and helping elevate generosity with nonprofit organizations. He currently serves as the Director of Development for Porter's Call, which provides counsel, support, and encouragement to recording artists and their loved ones.

Phil is grateful to live in Nashville, TN with his wife, Sonnie, and their three amazing kids.

Staff

Connie Chandler

Director of Family Engagement

Connie is affectionately and infamously known as "Kevan's sister," and is quite happy with that honorarium. Like Kevan, she also is diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

In summer of 2020, Kevan asked Connie to join the We Carry Kevan team, to offer support and friendship to families with disabilities who are inspired by Kevan's story.

Connie holds two master's degrees in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Global Studies. She taught English as a Second Language and served in international ministries for ten years. She loves to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds and hear their unique stories.

She enjoys drinking tea, eating ethnic food, and travelling the country. And if you ask her, she'll gladly share the tales of some of her own crazy adventures.
